Most people have an awareness that a full-body massage is good for you. It feels wonderful, after all! That fact doesn't take much convincing.
Did you know, that there are even more benefits to pairing massage with your chiropractic on a regular basis?
1. Eases Depression and Anxiety
It's easier to stay in a good mood when your inner muscular tension is relieved.
2. Promotes Neurotransmitter and Hormone Balance
Your body makes internal chemicals & hormone messengers to keep you calm.
3. Supports Healthy Blood Pressure and Circulation
Massage stimulates the lymphatic tissue, which helps move toxins and stagnant fluids through the body.
4. Resolves and/or Prevents Soft Tissue Injury
Why wait until you're hurt to start taking care of yourself? It's better to be proactive!
Depending on the client's preferences and specific needs I assess, I employ a variety of techniques to ensure a personalized and effective massage experience.
To begin, I may use a bit of Swedish technique to introduce touch and gently relax the body. As the muscles warm up, I transition to myofascial release, akin to rolfing, which targets and breaks up any connective tissue affecting the muscles we're focusing on. This phase is referred to as a "dry technique" because no oils or lotions are used.
Next, I incorporate massage oil, sometimes infused with essential oils like Lavender and Chamomile, to promote further relaxation and enhance the overall massage experience. Additionally, I incorporate heat therapy, utilizing tools such as hot stones, a Thermafor, a table warmer, or a heated blanket to gently warm the body and increase its receptiveness to the massage.
For clients with areas of chronic pain or tension, I may apply trigger point release and deep pressure as needed, targeting those specific problem areas. In cases where certain areas require more attention, I employ a Theragun, as its deep vibrations effectively relax tight muscles.
In response to specific needs, I also offer cupping. I utilize a gliding method with the cups to minimize marking on the skin compared to leaving them in one spot. The vacuum created by the cup promotes even pulling, effectively breaking up adhesions and improving circulation.
Lastly, I incorporate active and passive stretches tailored to address the areas that require it most, further enhancing the therapeutic benefits of the massage. In essence, I take a comprehensive and individualized approach to provide my clients with a holistic and rejuvenating massage experience, leaving them feeling refreshed, relaxed, and revitalized.
